Blue Ridge Quilters Guild of Northeast Tennessee

Our annual Quilt Challenge Theme is announced in the fall. All members are encouraged to participate as a way to challenge themselves. Rules can specify many things such as: the color(s) or design of fabric(s) used, a theme, embellishments, a certain quilt block, size of quilt and whether other quilted items may be entered. Votes are cast by the attendees of the August picnic in accordance with the judging criteria set by the Challenge Committee.

Challenge Quilts to be submitted at August Meeting

On July 4, 2026 our country will celebrate being 250 years old. To celebrate our country’s special birthdate our quilt challenge will honor the American Spirit with a patriotic focus.

Rules for the 2026 quilt challenge:

• Quilt project should show your interpretation of the American patriotic spirit
• Must use red, white and blue fabrics
• Use at least patriotic fabric.
• Only newly made quilt projects for this challenge (not one made in a previous year)
• You may use any sewing technique such as applique, piecing, paper piecing, embellishments, etc.

Criteria for Judging

• Best use of red, white and blue colors.
• Best Patriotic Theme
• Most Unique Design
• I want that Pattern!
