The Blue Ridge Quilters Guild has several Outreach community service projects in and around the Northeast Tennessee area. All Guild members are encouraged to make Small Comfort quilts, particularly Preemies and for children of all ages who are under the auspices of a care organizations in the area.

Once a year, usually the February meeting, the program is a “Mystery Quilt” pattern designed to be finished quickly, meet the size guidelines for Small Comfort donation quilts and use up any donated fabric stash. Batting is provided for this event. A library of prior Mystery Quilt patterns is available at the end of this page.



Our Small Comfort quilts principally go to:
YWCA Moms – R- Us program in Bristol, TN
Members are encouraged to make quilts from their own stash or from kits provided by the Guild. Kits can be picked up during a meeting usually from a table at the back of the meeting room.
Donations of 100% cotton fabric are accepted for use in these quilts.
Guild labels are provided for all Small Comfort Quilts. Members can obtain labels at each monthly meeting from Anne Cowan or Linda Gallagher. Preemie/Baby Quilt kits are available at the monthly meeting at the back of the meeting room. Contact Anne Cowan or Linda Gallagher if you need batting for a Small Comfort or Preemie quilts. Before turning in Small Comfort quilt at the monthly meeting, the finished quilt should be washed with fragrance-free detergent.
Comfort Quilts are sized as follows:
Preemie Quilts can be 30″x 30″ up to 36″ x 36″.

Baby Quilts range from 36″x36″ up to 40″x40″.
Comfort Quilts range from 42″ x “54” up to 45″ x 60″.
Quilts larger than 45″ x 60″ usually go to Habitat for Humanity
